The Highway 49 Bypass around Amador City and
Sutter Creek is now open. On Highway 49, watch
for the signs to Amador City and Sutter Creek
just north of Martell/Jackson when coming from
the south and just south of Drytown when coming
from the north.
From Local Areas: Amador City is about
4-5 minutes from Sutter Creek, 4 minutes from
Drytown, 10 minutes to Jackson, 20 minutes to
Volcano, 15 minutes from Ione, 10 minutes to Plymouth
(county fairgrounds), 12 minutes from the start
of the Shenandoah Valley vineyards loop in Plymouth.
Closest supermarkets and discount stores are located
in Martell off 49 on the way to Jackson (8 minutes).
From Placerville: take Hwy 49
south, about 35 miles, through Plymouth. Take
a left turn to stay on Hwy 49 south towards Sutter
Creek and Jackson. About 1-1/2 miles past Drytown,
make a left turn onto "old" Highway
49 and go another mile into Amador City. Driving
time: about 30 minutes.
From Sacramento: take Highway 16 (Power
Inn Road/Howe Ave exit off Hwy 50) toward Jackson.
After about 40 miles, you'll see 49 to Sutter
Creek/Jackson exit on your right. Follow 49 south.
About 1-1/2 miles past Drytown, make a left turn
onto "old" Highway 49 and go another
mile into Amador City. Driving time from Sacramento:
50 easy minutes.
From Sonora: take 49 into Jackson, drive
through Jackson, take Hwy 49 exit to Sutter Creek
on right and keep right to stay on "old"
Hwy 49 through Sutter Creek and on to Amador City.
Driving time from Sonora: 1 hour.
